JTAC Training

One of the core contract air misions of AEC SKYLINE is the provision of realistic yet cost-effective Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) training including Digitally Aided Close Air Support (DACAS) and “hot” controls.

L-39 Albatros

AEC SKYLINE’s L-39 Albatros jet trainer aircraft feature a modern glass cockpit with an advanced mission software suite integrated in-house by our engineers. Powered by a single turbofan engine, this high performance aircraft produces a low noise footprint, even at low altitudes, and is equipped with a MX-15 EO/IR sensor combined with video downlink capability.
When confronted with marginal weather such as low cloud ceilings the subsonic L-39 continues to provide effective training. In comparison to 4th or 5th Generation fighter aircraft, this results in a credible, yet very cost-effective solution for today’s JTAC training requirements including the provision of DACAS.

LearJet 36A

Powered by two turbofan engines, AEC SKYLINE’s Learjet 36A is a multi-purpose platform that is designed for long range mission capability. A true workhorse, the company’s Learjet has two underwing hardpoints, thereby allowing it to carry a MX-10 sensor pod combined with video downlink capability for JTAC training missions including DACAS.
This high performance aircraft features a modern mission software suite as part of its avionics architecture. An onboard multifunctional rack is available for any specific equipment that might be needed by the aircraft’s onboard sensor operators.

Alpha Jet/A-4

In cooperation with our esteemed strategic contract air partner, TOP ACES, AEC SKYLINE offers the Alpha Jet and A-4 attack aircraft as other possible JTAC training tools. Capable of operating at high subsonic speeds, these aircraft can also execute live drops using BDU practice bombs given their weapon delivery capability.
Since entering service with our partner, both these types of single jet aircraft have undergone an impressive upgrade programme and several are available in the Northwestern European theatre.

PC-12

For long range/long endurance missions AEC SKYLINE also provides the all-weather PC-12 as a JTAC training platform. Propelled by a single powerful PT6 engine, the versatile PC-12 has short take-off and landing (STOL) performance and the ability to operate from unpaved runways. When equipped with a multispectral targeting sensor pod and video transmission capability, this advanced turboprop aircraft can conduct dry runs, simulate weapon employment.

FULL SIZE DECOYS

By opting for AEC SKYLINE’s light weight full size inflatable targets, military units can add some much needed realism during JTAC training or as part of combined air operations (COMAO) exercises. Featuring a matching infrared signature, these decoys simulate T-72 main battle tank, BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle, and SA-8 and SA-19 ground based air defence (GBAD) systems.
AEC SKYLINE also offers an actual, demilitarised SA-2 surface-to-air missile mounted on a trailer. This way, AEC SKYLINE is able to simulate (near) peer opposing forces. Training value can be further enhanced by combining our versatile GBAD decoys with the use of so-called “smokey sams” and/or radar emulators.
